KBC's Vacation Bible School
High Seas Expedition
ALL HANDS ON DECK!!
July 12 - July 16

You won't need your spyglass to find kids having fun at KBC when the 2nd week of July arrives.  We will be hoisting the sails and plunging into a daily adventure.

Bible Voyage bible stories will teach kids that God's word is TRUE, COMFORTING, SURPRISING, LIFE-CHANGING, and (most of all) FOR EVERYONE.  Kids will be asked to take on a Daily Challenge - to spread Jesus' love at home by living out the daily Bible point.

We challenge you to be a part of spreading Jesus' love in Kenmore by helping VBS.  You can be a crew leader (accompany 3-5 kids to their activities), a financial supporter (donate food and/or money), help with crafts (one or more nights), a baker (bake goodies for the closing program on Friday July 16th at 8:45pm), or prayer support (for kids & leaders) before, during and after VBS.

You can also join the KBC VBS kids and scores of other kids in North America, in a mission project for hurting children in Africa, by donating money to buy and send "God Loves Me" blankets.  The total cost of each blanket, coloring book and shipping is $11.88.  A donation of any amount toward this project will be appreciated.

Together we can explore the mighty love of God, on our swashbuckling adventure through God's Word as we discover that God shows his powerful love throughout Scripture.  Help out one or more nights and feel awash with excitement, or come see the closing program on Friday July 16th at 8:45pm.  To volunteer or for any questions, contact Laura Millen or Donna Ryan.

Registration

We would like to begin our Expedition right on time.  If you have not pre-registered your children, please come on Monday at 6pm, so that we get the necessary information to register your children for their Adventure on the High Seas Expedition.

VBS CREW LEADER / VOLUNTEER TRAINING / INFORMATION MEETING

  • Why: To review & coordinate volunteer responsibilities and questions
  • Where: 1st room on the right in the Sunday School wing
  • When: Choose ONE Sunday - June 27th or July 11th - immediately following Worship Service.
  • Who: ALL crew leaders (others volunteering).  Length of meeting about 15 minutes.

Deaconess Board
The Deaconess Board will meet on Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the McAuley Residence at 10:15am to assist in a communion service led by our Pastor. 

 


KBC Family Night with the Buffalo Bisons
Friday August 6th at 7:35pm vs. Columbus Clippers
We are honored to continue the tradition of having a discounted Bison Baseball night for our church family through a gift from the late Robert Weymouth.  He left us a very generous gift so we could offer these Family nights for YEARS to come! 

The date is Friday August 6th at 7:35pm.  These are $11 reserved seats, available to KBC members and friends for only $2.00!!  We will be attending the Friday Night Bash complete with fireworks after the game.  You can order and pay for your tickets from Bonnie Tordy.

Upcoming Youth Events / Announcements:

  • Youth In Service
    Our Jr. High and High school students did crafts and hand delivered 24 Prayer Shawls to the residents at Schofield Manor on May 12th.  The precious moment was when Arianna delivered a shawl to one sweet woman, who burst into tears in appreciation.  These students do a wonderful job interacting with and helping the residents.
  • Summer Sunday School
    We need your help.  Please sign up for one Sunday for either the nursery or to teach the video lesson for the toddlers through 2nd graders.  If each household took only one Sunday, we could have the whole year staffed, not just the summer.  Sign up in the office.
  • LASERTRON
    Our Youth had a great afternoon of fun at Lasertron on May 16!
  • Kids Klubs - Our Children's Ministry outreach group is the 3rd Friday of each month from September to May.  Cost $1.50 per child. 
    See you in September.
  • KBC ANGELS - Spiritual Dance Team
    Bonnie Swanson and Theresa Ford are the directors of this team.  Rehearsals are most Sundays after worship service.  If you are interested in joining the team or have questions, contact Bonnie or Theresa.  Our Angels had a lovely performance on Children's Day Sunday June 13th.
    The KBC Angels bring a special dimension to our worship services when they dance.  For eight years, these young ladies have been giving time and energy to enhance our times of worship.  There is a lot that has to happen before we can see them in worship, and it needs many hands to help.  If you appreciate this special ministry for and by these young ladies, we could use your help in continuing this wonderful opportunity.  Directors Bonnie Swanson and Theresa Ford would appreciate a few adults who could help with phone calls, costumes, and rehearsal assistance, among other items.  If you're interested in helping the KBC Angels ministry in any of these ways, please contact the church office for more information.  Your continuing support of our KBC Angels is appreciated!
  • Darien Lake Discount Tickets!!!
    Once again this year the KBC Family will have the opportunity to purchase any day passes for just $23.99 (gate price $35.99).  This price is for all ages, and children under 2 are free.  This price includes parking. (That is a $10 savings)  This works out to be less than the Wegmans tickets because we do not have the tax or service fees!
  • Youth Bible Study
    Jr. & Sr. High Youth Bible Study - Wednesdays 6:45pm for 6th to 12th graders (Sept to June).   
  • BJs Wholesale Membership
    Just a reminder that you can be a member of BJ's Wholesale Club under the "KBC Family".  The Church Membership runs Feb - Feb. For those of you who have the KBC membership currently, all you have to do is pay at the regular check out to renew your card. The cost for renewal is $21.65.  If you would like to join as a NEW associate member on the Church’s account, please see or call Bonnie Tordy for the form..
  • Youth Recycling Projects - We have two opportunities to recycle! One is used ink jet cartridges and the second is for old cell phones. The ink cartridges are all brands (EXCEPT Epson.) For the Cell Phones, they only are accepting the phone (no other accessories, car chargers, or cases.)  Please deposit them in one of the collection boxes located outside the office upstairs or in the hallway to the fellowship hall. The youth are doing this as a fund-raiser. Thank you for your support.
